oTranscribe - Whether you need to get your own thoughts from your recorder to your notes or you do transcription work (or would like to but don't want to or even have money to spend on high-end hardware and software,) oTranscribe is a wonderful and free Chrome app. It is robust and easy to use with hotkeys to keep your fingers where they belong so you can focus on the task at hand.
As well, it is here you will find the import and export buttons (for the text, not audio.) You can only import oTranscribe files (files you've exported from oTranscribe in their format,) but it is very useful to streamline the whole process if you are in and out of the application and don't want to keep copy/pasting work you've already completed.
The export function allows you save your work in Markdown (.md,) plain text or the proprietary oTranscribe format (.otr.) I would recommend saving in .otr until your work is finished and ready to be polished in your favorite word processing suite.
The sound in playback is as crisp as in any external audio player I have tried it with and there has been no issue with lag or latency in my exposure to this software. It has a very easy learning curve and plenty of options to work with and best of all, it's absolutely free.
The only real glitch I've found with this suite is that if you upload the same filename concurrently, say accidently clicked the wrong file while trying to grab the next one in line, it will go back to the screen to upload a file. Selecting a different file should fix this issue as it usually does with me, but in the absolute worst case scenario I've come across, just reloading the page remedies the problem.
