I'm going to start off by just coming out and saying that I'm voting for Bernie Sanders. If you're not yourself a fellow Sanders fan, please continue reading before berating me in the comments.
Eight years ago, and again four years ago, I voted for a man named Barack Hussein Obama and sure enough, that man became the United States President both times. Sure, my two measly little votes had very little to do with this fact, but they held more weight than the millions of votes not cast at all. Now it's not my mission here to scold you and tell you to get to the polls. I know it doesn't matter what's said by who; the non-voters aren't going to vote. My fear is that there have become too many non-voters who would otherwise be supporting Mr. Sanders in his run for U.S. presidency.
Now I suppose my next statement should be that I am not a Feel The Bern staffer. I am not employed by, affiliated with, volunteering for, or working under any sort of contract to Bernie Sanders or his campaign. These are my thoughts and words and mine alone. It's sad that this needs mentioning, but with the state of things (a handful of Sanders supporters showing very bad taste to the point that the campaign had to point out it was unaffiliated with them,) I just figured I would.
With that said, we've got three solid possibilities to sit in the Oval Office for the next four years. Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump, and Bernie Sanders. I won't lie. I'm desperately afraid for the future of this country if either Clinton or Trump are elected.
I'm not a chauvinist nor am I against capitalism, but the woman and mogul in question here are the absolute WRONG individuals for this situation. Hillary already showed us four years ago running against Obama that she is not the person we need in charge. Her stories and policies change with the wind, her professionalism is... well, it just doesn't exist, and she's as much as, if not more than a con than her husband was. When you add atop of this the current investigations into her email accounts (which is an assed-out absolutely serious issue that should be followed up with federal time if not at least an extensive financial penalty along with the revocation of access to sensitive information... say maybe that of which the President of the United States of America (POTUS) has access too?) she is absolutely the wrong candidate to elect to the POTUS position. About the only thing I can genuinely say she has going for her is the fact that she herself is not Donald Trump.
The fact that Donald Trump is still in contention for the Republican nomination disgusts me. Truly. The man is an absolutely racist, a narcissist, and an insanely too-cut-throat business man (why is this bad? Read here, here, and here.) Oh, yeah, and he's completely misogynistic. It's one thing to get a kick out of him 'firing' people on TV, but something entirely different when you put this sort of animal at the reigns of the powerhouse that is the United States government. If you think things are hard now, I'm sorry to be the one to tell you, but it's all down hill from here.
Now on to Bernie Sanders. About the only 'bad' things anyone can find in this guys itinerary are his gathering of unruly followers (mentioned above,) his 'socialist agenda' and his trips to the synagogue (get the real story here on that bit.)
Now to the important bit. That nasty little word. Socialist. More accurately, democratic socialist. Yes, Mr. Sanders has plans for free and open medical insurance for all and free and open schooling for all. That's about the just of it, however. We are not going to become Soviet Russia. We are not going to be monitored and terrorized by the heavy-handed KGB. Socialism is one of the most misunderstood political concepts I have ever come across to the point it maddens me to hear some of the stories people come up with about it.
As we (the average individuals of the United States of America,) stand currently the job market is bleak, cost of living is disgusting, personal debt is out of control (even for big players like Kanye West,) and that good old American Dream? Yeah, that's just a dream and always will be until fundamental change is enacted and this country gets back on track. Do a bit of research for yourself and compare our current, primarily capitalistic, policies against those of nations with a touch of socialism like Denmark and see who's leading in educated, debt-free, healthy individuals prospering in life. I'll give you a hint; If you're a U.S. citizen, it's not you.
